Privacy Policy.

This policy is available in Dutch and English. In case of discrepancies, the Dutch version prevails. Lees dit document in het Nederlands

1. Who We Are

Evenly (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a service offered through evenlymentalload.com. We analyse chat conversations between partners to identify patterns in how invisible work is distributed within a relationship.

Data controller: Pulse Analytics, registered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, KvK registration number 42018419.

Contact: hello@evenlymentalload.com

2. What This Policy Covers

This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. It covers two groups of people:

  • You: the person who uses Evenly and uploads a conversation
  • Your partner: the other person in the conversation, who has not directly interacted with Evenly

We treat your partner’s privacy with the same care as yours, even though they are not our direct customer. See section 7 for details.

3. What We Collect

3.1 Information you provide directly

  • Email address: to deliver your report, send the re-analysis reminder, and handle support requests
  • Payment information: processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
  • Questionnaire responses: your answers to 10 questions about default task ownership in your household. These include personal details such as your work schedule and time spent solo with children, and are stored linked to your account.
  • Chat export: a file exported from WhatsApp, Telegram, or Signal (.txt, .json, .xml, or the original .zip) containing messages between you and your partner

3.2 Information we collect automatically

  • Cookies: two functional cookies only. See section 9.
  • Basic analytics: page visits, referral source, device type. We use Vercel Analytics, which is privacy-friendly: it does not use cookies, does not track individuals, and does not create personal profiles.
  • Consent log: when you accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy at checkout and again at upload, we store your user ID, the timestamp, and the document versions you accepted

3.3 If you join the waitlist or contact us

  • Waitlist: if you sign up for early access, we store your email address, name, motivation, whether you have children, what you hope to get out of Evenly, your language, and how you found us. You receive a confirmation email. This data is used only to manage the waitlist and contact you at launch.
  • Booking form: if you use the form to enquire about keynotes or workshops, your name, organisation, email, phone number, and message are forwarded directly to our inbox by email. They are not stored in our database.

4. Why We Collect It

Under the GDPR, we need a legal basis for each type of processing. Here is how it breaks down:

5. How the Analysis Works

When you upload your chat export, here is what happens:

  • Your file is transmitted securely (encrypted in transit) and processed entirely in memory. The raw chat file is never written to disk or to our database.
  • Immediately after your messages are parsed into a structured format, the raw file content is erased. This happens within the same request, before anything else.
  • During your session, the structured messages travel once between your browser and our server in a signed, short-lived token (valid for 30 minutes). Nothing is kept on our servers in between.
  • For the analysis itself, the conversation, including message texts and the names of both partners, is sent to the Anthropic API. See section 5.1 for how Anthropic handles this.
  • The analysis is fully automated. No human reads your messages.
  • A report is generated and delivered to you. See section 5.2 for how, and why we do not keep it.

5.1 Anthropic API and your data

We use the Anthropic API, the commercial interface, to analyse your conversation. This is important because Anthropic’s data policies differ between their consumer product and their API:

  • No training on your data. Under Anthropic’s commercial API terms, your inputs and outputs are never used to train or improve their models. This applies to all API customers.
  • Automatic deletion by Anthropic. Anthropic automatically deletes API logs within 7 days. This means your conversation data is removed from Anthropic’s systems within 7 days after processing.
  • Data Processing Agreement. Our use of the Anthropic API is governed by Anthropic’s Commercial Terms of Service, which include a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for international data transfers.

5.2 Your report exists only with you

Your full report, which contains the names of both partners and selected quotes from your conversation, is deliberately not stored on our systems. It exists in exactly two places: shown once in your browser after the analysis, and delivered to you as a PDF attachment by email.

This is a privacy choice. Because we do not keep the report, nobody can retrieve it from us: not us, not your partner, not anyone with access to a link. The email is the only copy. Keep it safe, because we cannot resend it.

What we do keep are your numerical results (scores and dimension data, see section 5.3), so that your results page and toolkit remain accessible and your free re-analysis after 90 days can be compared to your first one.

5.3 What we store after the analysis

After your report is generated, our database contains only:

  • Your numerical scores: the overall split, the four dimension scores, and related indicators
  • Your questionnaire responses
  • Counts and flags used to build the scores

The names of you and your partner are never stored in our database. No message texts, quotes, examples, or report content are stored either: the storage format only accepts numbers and flags, so conversation text structurally cannot end up in it.

6. Who We Share Data With

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We use the following third-party services to operate Evenly:

ServiceWhat they processWhere
StripePayment processing (receives your email address and internal reference IDs)USA (DPA with SCCs in place)
SupabaseDatabase: email, scores, questionnaire responses, consent logEU (eu-west-1, Ireland)
AnthropicChat analysis via commercial API: receives the conversation including names and message texts. No model training, 7-day log retention.USA (DPA with SCCs in place)
ResendEmail delivery, including the report email with your PDF report (which contains names and conversation quotes)USA (DPA with SCCs in place)
VercelWebsite hosting, cookieless analytics, and technical error logsUSA/EU (DPA with SCCs in place)

Each of these services processes data on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement (DPA). Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent safeguards.

7. Your Partner’s Privacy

This section is specifically about the person whose messages appear in the conversation you upload, but who has not used Evenly themselves.

7.1 Legal basis

We process your partner’s messages under legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our reasoning:

  • The interest: You have a legitimate interest in understanding how invisible work is distributed in your relationship. This understanding can lead to more constructive conversations and a healthier balance.
  • The necessity: The analysis requires both sides of the conversation to identify patterns. Analysing only your messages would make the report meaningless.
  • The safeguards: We minimise impact on your partner through strict data handling (see 7.2 below).
  • The balance: We have concluded that your interest, combined with our safeguards, outweighs the privacy impact on your partner.

7.2 How we protect your partner

  • No human reads the conversation. Processing is fully automated.
  • The raw chat file is never stored. It is erased from memory immediately after parsing.
  • Your partner’s name is never stored in our database. No message texts are stored either: only numerical scores.
  • We do not create a profile, account, or record for your partner.
  • We do not contact your partner.
  • The full report, which does contain your partner’s name and selected quotes, is delivered only to you by email and is not retained on our systems.
  • During analysis, the conversation is processed by Anthropic under the safeguards described in section 5.1, including automatic deletion within 7 days.

7.3 Your partner’s rights

Even though your partner has not used Evenly, they have rights under the GDPR:

  • Right of access: your partner can contact us to ask what data we hold about them
  • Right to erasure: your partner can request deletion of their data. We will honour this request.
  • Right to object: your partner can object to the processing. We will assess the objection and respond within 30 days.

Your partner can reach us at hello@evenlymentalload.com. In practice, because we store no names and no conversation text, the data we hold that relates to your partner is limited to numerical scores linked to your account.

8. How Long We Keep Your Data

We apply automatic retention limits. Analysis data is deleted 12 months after your purchase. This covers the free re-analysis window (90 days) with room to spare, after which we no longer need the data.

You can also request deletion of your data at any time before these periods expire. See section 10.

9. Cookies

We keep cookie use to a minimum. We use exactly two cookies, both functional:

  • evenly_lang: remembers your language choice (Dutch or English)
  • evenly_preview: technical cookie used only for internal preview access before launch

Both are strictly necessary for the site to work as you expect. No consent banner is required for functional cookies under the GDPR and ePrivacy rules.

Our analytics (Vercel Analytics) does not set cookies and does not track individuals, so no analytics consent is needed either.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party trackers.

10. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your data
  • Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@evenlymentalload.com. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl). If you live elsewhere in the EU, you may also contact the authority in your own country.

11. International Data Transfers

Our database is hosted in the EU (Ireland). Some of our service providers are based in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we ensure it is protected through Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, or equivalent legal safeguards.

12. Children

Evenly is not intended for use by anyone under 18, and you must not upload conversations that include messages from children. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor’s data has reached our service, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the website. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the current version.

14. Language

This Privacy Policy was drafted in Dutch and translated into English. In case of discrepancies between the two versions, the Dutch version prevails.
